The father of Croatian judoka Barbara Matic was taken into custody for sexual assault on Thursday, August 1, in Paris, the Paris prosecutor’s office announced to AFP, confirming information from the Parisian. An Olympic volunteer “reports being forced to give him a kiss without his consent by the father of a judo champion just after his daughter’s victory”the prosecution said, based on the complaint filed by the victim.

The events took place on Wednesday at the Arena Champ-de-Mars, while the judoka, according to The Parisianhad just won the quarter-final of his event. The man was summoned to a voluntary hearing on Thursday morning, then was taken into custody. The investigation was entrusted to the police station of the 7th arrondissement of Paris. Barbara Matic won the gold medal in the under 70 kg category.
