Excitement Builds: Pallacanestro Trieste Departs, A2 League Readies for a New Season of Rivals and Regional Showdowns

Pallacanestro Trieste has just left it, it was a quick visit that after a year had brought first tears and then immense joy. Serie A2 is preparing to restart with a new formula compared to the much talked about one of last season, the clock phase. In this coming season instead there will be only one group where the first will go directly to the top floor and another will join it but after the play-offs.

In the region there are only two left, Apu Udine and Eagles Cividale. Both seem to have good teams, capable of fighting at the top of the table in a championship that promises to be fascinating.

This is the roster of Cividale under coach Pillastrini: Rota, Isotta, Piccionne, Redivo, Marangon, Marks, Ferrari, Miani, Dell’Agnello, Berti, Campani. This is instead that of Udine with coach Vertemati always at the helm: Hickey, Caroti, Stefanelli, Ambrosin, Alibegovic, Ikangi, Johnson, Da Ros, Pini, Bruttini.

In the various rosters there will be several players from Trieste or former Pallacanestro Trieste.

Avellino: Mussini. Fortitudo Bologna: Mian. Valtur Brindisi: Fantoma, Vildera. Libertas Livorno: Banks, Filloy. Orzi Basket: Franco Ciani. Rieti: Spencer. Reale Mutua Torino: Matteo Boniciolli, Landi, Schina. Apu Udine: Da Ros. Eli Brooks could be added to these, who seems to be in the details with Forlì.

This is the first day: Nardò-Pesaro; Orzi-Cantù; Rieti-Piacenza; Rimini-Udine; Brindisi-Avellino; Turin-Verona; Cento-Livorno; Vigevano-Cremona; Cividale-Forlì; Urania Milan-Fortitudo Bologna.

As for the regional derbies, the first leg is scheduled for October 16th and the return leg for January 15th, both in midweek rounds, first at Cividale’s home.
