Sturm Graz achieved a respectable result in the friendly against Paris Saint-Germain. The Styrian team, double winners last season, achieved a 2:2 (2:2) draw against the French champions in front of over 20,000 spectators in Klagenfurt. Amady Camara (15th) and Otar Kiteishvili (43rd) equalized an early deficit through Ibrahim Mbaye (9th) and Carlos Soler (12th).

Sturm started with practically the best line-up, only goalkeeper Kjell Scherpen and the injured Lovro Zvonarek remained in Graz. Daniil Chudjakow, who was signed in the summer, was in goal and was beaten for the first time after just three minutes, but Emanuel Aiwu cleared a shot from Randal Kolo Muani from the line.

Four minutes later, Chudyakov let a shot from 16-year-old Mbaye through from a tight angle. Soler increased the lead to 2-0 for the French shortly afterwards after a pass from Kolo Muani.

Guided tour of Mbaye

In the ninth minute of the game, Ibrahim Mbaye scored the 1-0 for Paris Saint-Germain.

Sturm came close thanks to Camara, the striker profiting from a serious mistake by 17-year-old defender Younes El-Hannach. Kiteishvili equalized with a great shot from the edge of the box into the far corner.

Equaliser before half-time

At halftime, Sturm changed all of its field players, while PSG coach Luis Enrique was a little more cautious with substitutions. In the rainy conditions at the end, the spectators didn’t see any more goals, but instead saw one or two PSG stars such as Muani, Soler, Marco Asensio and Warren Zaire-Emery.

Camara scores the opening goal

Amady Camara scored the first goal for Sturm Graz in the 15th minute.

Positive for club coffers

The fans’ satisfaction was accordingly high – as was that of Sturm’s managing director for business, Thomas Tebbich, who reported in an ORF interview: “We will come out of this test match in a positive economic light.”

Another plus point for the Styrian team was the knowledge gained in terms of organization, as they will have to play their Champions League matches in the Wörthersee Stadium from autumn onwards.
