South Korea’s badminton mixed doubles pair Kim Won-ho and Jeong Na-eun defeated Seo Seung-jae and Chae Yu-jeong to secure a silver medal in the final of the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Kim Won-ho and Jeong Na-eun defeated Seo Seung-jae and Chae Yu-jeong 2-1 (21-16 20-22 23-21) in the semifinals of the mixed badminton doubles held at the Porte de la Chapelle stadium in Paris, France on the 1st (local time).

With this, Kim Won-ho and Jeong Na-eun advanced to the finals in their first Olympic appearance and secured a silver medal. Initially, Korean badminton had high hopes for medals for Seo Seung-jae and Chae Yu-jeong, who had proven their competitiveness on the international stage, but an upset occurred.

By securing a silver medal, Korean badminton achieved its best result since the 2008 Beijing Games (1 gold, 1 silver, 1 bronze). Korean badminton only won 1 bronze medal in 3 consecutive games, from 2012 London, 2016 Rio de Janeiro, and 2020 Tokyo.

This is the first mixed doubles medal since Lee Yong-dae and Lee Hyo-jeong won the gold medal at the 2008 Beijing Games.
