The team of Kim Won-ho (Samsung Life Insurance) and Jeong Na-eun (Hwasun County Office) secured the silver medal after a fierce match against the team of Seo Seung-jae (Samsung Life Insurance) and Chae Yu-jeong (Incheon International Airport).

Kim Won-ho and Jeong Na-eun defeated Seo Seung-jae and Chae Yu-jeong 2-1 (21-16 20-22 23-21) in the semifinals of the mixed doubles badminton tournament held at the Porte de la Chapelle stadium in Paris, France on the 1st (local time).

Kim Won-ho and Jeong Na-eun, who had lost all five matches against each other, won their first match in the Olympic semifinals.

With this, Kim Won-ho and Jeong Na-eun secured a silver medal by advancing to the finals in their first Olympic appearance. This is the first mixed doubles medal since Lee Yong-dae and Lee Hyo-jeong won the gold medal at the 2008 Beijing Games.

Korean badminton, which won one gold medal, one silver medal, and one bronze medal at the 2008 Beijing Games, only won one bronze medal in three consecutive games: 2012 London, 2016 Rio de Janeiro, and 2020 Tokyo.

Kim Won-ho-Jung Na-eun and Seo Seung-jae-Chae Yu-jeong gave it their all in the semi-finals.

They produced a thrilling match that kept the team on the edge of their seats until the very end. They were leading 20-18 but allowed a comeback by allowing three consecutive points to Seo Seung-jae, but they finished the match with a score by Kim Won-ho and two errors by the opponent.
