Laura Lindemann Leads ‘Team Paris Land Brandenburg’ to Historic Gold in Olympic Mixed Relay

First gold medal for “Team Paris Land Brandenburg” at the 2024 Summer Olympics: Prime Minister Dr. Dietmar Woidke and Sports Minister Steffen Freiberg congratulate triathlete Laura Lindemann (Triathlon Potsdam) on her sensational success with the mixed relay.

Laura Lindemann is one of the most successful German triathletes, but an Olympic medal was still missing from her collection of achievements. Today she has her Dream realized in the mixed relayIn a hard-fought race, the Potsdam native, along with Tim Hellwig (DJK SG St. Ingbert), Lisa Tertsch (Triathlon Team DSW Darmstadt) and Lasse Lührs (SSF Bonn 1905 eV), prevailed with a strong combative performance. In a thrilling three-way battle with Great Britain and the USA, Laura Lindemann was the fourth starter of the German team trained by Dan Lorang and was the first to cross the finish line after a brilliant final sprint. Silver went to the USA and bronze to Great Britain.

Prime Minister Woidke: “Happy ending on and in the Seine! After failing to win a medal in the individual event, now gold in the team! That was sensational. I congratulate her from the bottom of my heart. Laura Lindemann has rewarded herself for her years of dedicated training. For our ‘Team Paris Land Brandenburg’, this was the perfect start to the second week of the Olympic Games in Paris.”

With 29 athletes, “Team Paris – Land Brandenburg” is the largest Olympic squad since 2008. They will compete in ten different sports between July 26 and August 11, 2024: canoe racing (6), track cycling (5), athletics (5), rowing (2), shooting (2), triathlon (2), modern pentathlon (2), judo (1), swimming (1) and rhythmic gymnastics (1). One female and one male athlete are available as substitutes for the time being.
