Pallacanestro Trieste | Nanni and Schlitzer complete the red and white technical staff

Pallacanestro Trieste completes its technical staff by confirming alongside coach Christian both Francesco Nanni and Nick Schlitzer, already engaged last season on the red and white bench in the ride that brought the team back to compete in the top championship. Their confirmations are in addition to the already announced addition of coach Francesco Taccetti, communicated by the club three weeks ago.

“Coach Christian and I are extremely pleased to announce the return of Francesco and Nick to our coaching staff,” General Manager Michael Arcieri said of the two renewals. “Together with Francesco Taccetti, we have built an experienced and diverse staff to support Coach Christian and our players heading into the new season. Francesco and Nick were integral to our success last season, with Francesco overseeing our highly regarded offense, while Nick contributed significantly to the skill development and growth of players across the roster.

Their contributions off the field have been equally indispensable. They have created strong bonds with players and staff, helping to build an organizational culture and identity that our fans and our city can be proud of! We welcome them back with great enthusiasm!”

Nanni trained as a basketball player at Pallacanestro Forlì in Serie A2, then honed his skills alongside highly experienced coaches such as Gigi Garelli, Giorgio Valli, Marcelo Nicola and Sandro Dell’Agnello. The leap in quality occurred with the move in 2021 to Scafati under coach Alessandro Rossi, where he won promotion to Serie A. With the arrival of coach Attilio Caja on the yellow-blue bench, Francesco’s Campania adventure ended and he decided to dedicate himself to his own training, traveling to the United States to update his knowledge of techniques and tactics. His return to Italy coincides with his arrival in Trieste, with which in the last year he built a sensational promotion, the second of his career.

Nick, after starting his association with the technical staff last season quietly, has since revealed himself to be a fundamental element in the balance of the locker room and a precious help in the individual development of the players, as well as in video analysis. Originally from Pottsville, Pennsylvania, he had a good career as a player. After leading the Jefferson Rams to the NCAA Division II title, Nick has played on the European parquet in the top English, Georgian, Swedish and Icelandic leagues. After a brief return to the United States to the coaching staff of his home college, Nick arrives in Italy to continue his training. Since last season he has been an essential member of the technical staff, and is preparing to experience his first Serie A championship from the red and white bench.

Good work to Francesco and Nick!
