Prisca Awiti Alcaraz: Trailblazing Judoka and Mexico’s First Olympic Medalist in Judo

Prisca Guadalupe Awiti Alcaraz (born February 20, 1996 in London Borough of Enfield) is a judoka. She grew up in England and won for Mexico with the silver medal at the 2024 Summer Olympics in the women’s light middleweight category, becoming the country’s first athlete to win an Olympic medal in judo.

Her mother Maria Dolores is from León in Mexico, her father Xavier is from Kenya. She has four brothers.

Awiti Alcaraz studied physical education at the University of Bath, moved to Mexico and has represented the country since 2017. At the 2020 Summer Olympics, also in the light middleweight category, she lost in the first round to Mongolian Gankhaich Bold.
