Utah Jazz All-Star Lauri Markkanen has signed a five-year, $238 million contract extension, ESPN reported.
The deal, which includes $220 million in new money, includes a $24 million salary increase through the 2024-25 season and an additional four years at $196 million with no options.
The extension prevents the Jazz from trading Markkanen for six months, which would pass the Feb. 6 deadline. Markkanen expressed his confidence in the Jazz organization and his determination to continue to grow as a player and person.
