[유노유농] Dongtan TOP, hit the 3×3 court with the family “Time to unite the family through basketball”

“It was a unique experience where children and parents teamed up to compete in a competition. I think it was a very good attempt.”

The Assist For Youth project is being carried out by Assist to develop Korean youth basketball starting in 2022. Dongtan TOP Basketball Class, which is working together on this project, felt the feeling of family on the 3×3 court.

Dongtan TOP participated in the Happiness Division of the 2024 KT Sonic Boom Bae 3×3 Basketball Competition held at Suwon Sports Complex on the 28th and won third place. This competition was unique in that it established a new category in which families could compete as a team, and in Dongtan TOP, two families, Jeong Yun-hoo and Yang Si-hoon, participated and had an unforgettable time.

In this competition, in addition to the existing middle and high school divisions, a new happiness division was established and operated where families, priests, and women’s teams could participate. Dongtan TOP’s Jeong Yun-hoo and Yang Si-hoon families participated in the competition, achieved good results in a friendly atmosphere, and had a long-awaited time becoming one.

The ‘2024 Suwon KT Sonic Boom Bae 3×3 Basketball Tournament’, which celebrated its second anniversary last year, was held in great heat with a total of 109 teams and 500 players participating. This competition was accompanied by various events such as a fan signing event for the KT Sonic Boom team and a shooting challenge. In particular, Lee Doo-won, Go Chan-hyuk, and Moon Jeong-hyun came out to the stadium and spent time with fans, drawing a great response.

In this festival-like competition, Jeong Yun-hoo’s family team, who competed as Slow Forest, and Yang Si-hoon’s family, who competed as Excellent, competed against a total of 6 teams and achieved pleasant results. Both teams passed the preliminaries and advanced to the final tournament, and Jung Yun-hoo’s family team, Slow Forest, advanced to the finals and took second place after a decisive match with Golden Family.

In addition, Yang Si-hoon’s family team, Excellent, also advanced to the semifinals and received a valuable 3rd place report card, so the whole family had a happy day playing basketball.

Slow Forest’s Si-hoo Jeong, who took second place, said, “I am happy to have this experience with my parents and younger brother. When I first started playing basketball, Yun-hoo was a kindergartener, and now it is very exciting that we can participate in the competition together.” He expressed great satisfaction at playing basketball.

He continued, “I used to be a member of the basketball team, and I am proud to see that my younger brother is also doing well on the national team. Sometimes I play one-on-one with my younger brother, but I feel like I will lose if I watch him like I used to, so I am doing my best these days. “This time, my whole family participated in a basketball tournament together and had an unforgettable experience, and I hope that basketball will continue to have a positive influence on our family.”

Director Jin Myeong-seop of Dongtan TOP said, “It was my first time attending a basketball competition where the whole family played as a team. I was very impressed by the parents’ hard work playing basketball under the hot sun. The parents always cheered their children on, but it was difficult for them to participate in the game themselves. There was also an appearance (laughter). I think the two teams that participated in this tournament will probably continue to be close to basketball, and I thought that we, Dongtan TOP, should hold an event like this in the future. “We will gather more ideas to help Dongtan TOP members increase their interest in basketball,” he said, adding that he gained a lot of inspiration from this competition.
