Every Monday evening, from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., those who want to practice a sporting activity without stakes, just for the purpose of exercising and having a good time, can now meet at the gymnasium from Londinières.
Badminton in Londinières
In fact, a few fans of the discipline decided to create an association and obtained this slot open to all. “We can come and practice at all ages. We accept from 16 years old, with at least one parent for minors. The goal is to offer sports practice in a good-natured atmosphere,” describes Arnaud Vautier, the president, also well known as chef of the restaurant Le Lion d’or.
We therefore made the project a reality
Until then, there were a few of them practicing badminton under the aegis of the local handball club. Arnaud Vautier, Pascal Lefebvre (secretary of the association), Bertrand Dumouchel (treasurer) and Sébastien Anger However, during the summer they thought about setting up their own structure. Thus was created the “Londinières leisure badminton” whose sessions started at the beginning of September.
“It was important for us to have a legal structure and not to meet informally. We therefore implemented the project which makes it possible to manage insurance for example, but also to request subsidies, knowing that the contribution is only 40 euros per year.
To participate, all you need is sports clothing and a badminton racket. The association takes care of the rest. “We set up the nets and supply the shuttlecocks. What’s nice is that here you always find players at your level and can practice with anyone. It’s very simple, come whoever wants and stay as long as they want on the slot.”
We find happiness at all levels
The very flexible organization has already met with great success since to date, more than 30 members have decided to come and play every Monday evening. And in this month of Pink October, the vast majority are playing the game of wearing pink. “The ruffles are also pink, and we have a small urn for donations and some goodies to sell for those who want” indicates Arnaud Vautier. And Sébastien Anger, who has been playing badminton for several years, adds: “In this sport, we find happiness at all levels and we progress quickly. It’s a fairly physical sport, far from the beach sport side. I also consider that we are one in a team sport which also allows people to meet and exchange.”
In short, if you’re interested, don’t hesitate to try badminton in Londinières in this new club which further expands the community’s associative offerings.
