“A relief”: Wouter Vrancken sees an example for Belgian football – Football News

Wouter Vrancken has been the coach of KAA Gent since this season. It was chairman Sam Baro who approached him to become coach of the Buffaloes.

“When he approached me to become a trainer at Ghent, we talked about the great project here, about his strategy, his vision, and I immediately had the feeling that we clicked,” says Wouter Vrancken in WigWam, the club magazine of KAA Gent.

“I immediately agreed with his choice for collaboration, open communication and positive thinking. For me, but I hear also for many other people at the club, his way of working has brought a whole new breath of fresh air here.”

According to Vrancken, this not only causes a culture shock for the Buffaloes. “It is certainly a relief in top Belgian football. That also gives people here a lot of job satisfaction.”

Yet Vrancken is not blind to what football is really about. “Of course, in top football everything depends on results. Everyone can work together happily and pleasantly, but if the results do not follow, there will be criticism and negativity.”

It was therefore very important for Vrancken that KAA Gent could qualify for the League Phase of the Conference League. “That was the first proof that the new way of working at AA Gent is also profitable,” concludes Vrancken.
