A sprint in the marathon. <a href="https://www.archysport.com/2022/02/basketball-the-second-match-against-berck-for-fougeres-in-a-week/” title=”Basketball: the second match against Berck for Fougères in a week”>Pays de Fougères basketball started Tours, Tuesday October 22the first of his seven matches in three weeks.
On the Knights floor, the Blues Brothers conceded their third consecutive loss. Their heaviest in terms of score (83-60).
The PFB had however started well, leading at the end of the first quarter (19-23, 10′). But Tours raised the tone, inflicting two significant gaps in the second and third quarters (24-13 then 23-9).
Led 66-45 at 30′, Ferns was unable to reverse the trend despite a close last part of the match (17-15).
“Walking plan”
After three consecutive home matches, this new sequence with two matches per week forces the Fougères team to adapt its organisation.
What changes for us is that we trained on Sunday and we did video on Sunday and Monday. The day before the match, training is unopposed. Wednesday, recovery. Video Thursday. And match Friday. It’s sure that it’s a slightly different pace, but we train every day so in itself, physically, we’re ready for it.
Mathieu Lemercier, the coach of PFBprolonged :
We know the schedule so this can be anticipated at the staff level. By playing two matches per week, this is not where we are going to develop in the construction. Between each match, it’s recovery-preparation and we play one match after another. The work was therefore done before on the construction, development and physical anticipation of things. The only day we cut is Saturday. And again, there will be treatment next Saturday.
Before kicking off this week with two “difficult” trips, Mathieu Lemercier aimed for this:
We’re going to try to make a move. And at the end, it doesn’t matter if we’ve done one, two or not, we have to stick to our plan and our objectives. We will be able to make a first assessment at the end of the first matches during the break week.
The promoted Fougères hopes that he will be well supported by his supporters, Friday October 25at the neighbor’sUnion Rennes basket.
For the next two weeks, Justy-Specker will meet his team on Tuesday evenings (October 29 against Les Sables-d’Olonne et November 5 against Levallois).
It’s important that we continue to have the attendance we have, that is to say an almost full and sold-out room and that we feel that we are being pushed. We saw it during the Quimper match, it also helped us to stay in contact in the match.
Outside, Ferns will go to France pole (1st November at Insep at Paris) before a big trip to Tarbes-Lourdes Friday November 8.
