The 2024-2025 tennis season was inaugurated during the first weekends of September. Indeed, it was during the Associations Forum at the Parc de la Victoire and the Open Day at SOM Tennis that Millavoises were able to (re)discover this sport!
Friday September 27, 2024, the general assembly of SOM Tennis Millau was held in a friendly atmosphere, in the presence of Michel Durandfirst deputy at the town hall of Millau. During the discussions between the members of the office and the members, it was recalled that the SOM is above all a place where conviviality reigns.
The numerous applause demonstrated the success of the club, whether financially, morally or in terms of sporting results, which are promising for this new season. The club would also like to express its deep gratitude to its sponsors. A huge thank you to Grégory Velsin of Sport 2000 Millau, as well as the Head brand.
The first victories of the season
Like every year, the month of September was marked by the Coupe Écureuil – Challenge Étienne Bianquis championship. For three Sundays, the five Millavois teams faced the Aveyron clubs in often hotly contested matches. Women’s team 2 won the final against the Creissels Tennis Club, while men’s team 1 unfortunately failed to reach the final.
Young talents in the spotlight
Three young members of the club distinguished themselves by winning the Masters Mozaïc at the departmental level. Congratulations to Estevan Lacorne, Arsène Claustre-Gincheleau et Clara Courtial for their remarkable performances. A special mention goes to Clara, who won during the Super Masters Mozaïc against young players from the departments of Tarn, Lot and Tarn-et-Garonne. A victory which testifies to their diligence during training and their passion for tennis.
Multi-Chances Tournament (TMC) in doubles
The multi-chance doubles tournament took place on October 6 at the club. This day, marked by conviviality, allowed the different teams to compete in a warm atmosphere. For the women, it was the team of Sylvie and Guylaine who won, while for the men, Paul and Christophe won against the father-son team of Jérôme and Lohan.
