In the first week of the autumn holidays, 29 young judokas from SV Holm-Seppensen experienced an unforgettable youth camp on the four-masted barque “Passat” in Travemünde. For five days, the participants immersed themselves in a world full of adventures and experiences – all without parents, far away from the judo mat, without a television and without a smartphone.
The young judokas lived in the original cabins and slept in the traditional bunks once used by sailors. Everyday life on the ship brought the group closer together – from game evenings to self-catering, everyone pitched in: together we cooked, cleaned up, washed up, got our own bunk and set sail.
The group was able to let off steam with beach games, while a visit to the Baltic Sea station gave a lasting insight into the region’s marine world. The fun wasn’t neglected either: Travemünde was explored in a playful and exciting way during the city game, and a trip to the swimming pool and Hansa Park provided many unforgettable moments.
The six-person team of trainers and supervisors, some of whom had taken part in this leisure activity as children, accompanied the group. The trip on the Passat has now become a 20-year tradition for the judo department – and every time it is a highlight that the young people don’t forget in a hurry.
