Anna Monta Olek continued her amazing form in the -78kg weight class. With a razor-sharp Ouchi-gari, she defeated her opponent in the final with a waza-ari and then controlled the fight.
She won her first gold medal at a Grand Slam. When the battle ended, the Germans’ exhaustion soon gave way to joy.
“I don’t know what it is, but Abu Dhabi seems to be my city! My girlfriend also won her first Grand Slam medal here,” Olek said after the fight.

In the final of the -100 kg class, Michael Korrel won gold with a skillfully executed Ashi-Guruma.
The Dutchman was happy about his sixth Grand Slam gold.
“I think I showed again today that I am at the top in the 100kg class. When I show what I have in my system and be brave like I did today, then great results come from it.”
Coralie Hayme stormed to the top spot on the podium in the 78kg class. She took advantage of her opponent’s mistake and secured the gold medal with a pin.
In the +100kg class, Valerii ENDOVITSKII defeated former world champion Ushangi Kokauri to take the title in the heaviest men’s category.
This concludes another great event in Abu Dhabi. Two gold medals for the host country is a good result for the UAE.
