“I think it was time to hand over…” A page is about to turn at <a href="https://www.archysport.com/2022/01/ligue-2-21st-day-what-luck-against-pau-this-saturday-evening-for-the-tfc/" title="Ligue 2 – 21st day: what luck against Pau, this Saturday evening, for the TFC!”>AC Ajaccio.

Its majority shareholder, Alain Orsoni, will leave the club. He has initiated a sale of the shares he owns in the holding company Ajaccio Imperial Corse Investissement, the entity which owns the ACA.

“A purchasing protocol has been signed, it will take effect on December 31, specifies the former Aceist president who resides in Nicaragua. My concern is to ensure the sustainability of the club through buyers who will continue the adventure.”

For some time, Alain Orsoni had made no secret of his desire to sell his shares and permanently leave his favorite club. A club he joined as manager more than 30 years ago with his friend Michel Moretti, the historic president of the Whites and Reds from 1994 until his death in 2008.

Residing in Central America, more than 9,000 kilometers from Corsica, Alain Orsoni left the presidency to his son-in-law, Daniele Bufano, in the summer of 2022. The latter chaired the ACA until last August.

Since then, the club has not had an official operational president. Jean-Noël Fattaccioli, the vice-president in charge of finances, is in charge on a daily basis. He also acts as boss in the absence of Alain Orsoni.

“Even if legally I retain the position of president of the holding company, explains the latter, in fact, Mr. Fattaccioli is the one who has the responsibilities because it is he who, with his friends, provided the funds necessary for our survival.”

Alain Orsoni is referring here to the passage of the ACA, this summer, before the National Directorate of Management Control (DNCG). Initially demoted, the club was finally drafted, after having provided the guarantees requested by the financial policeman of French football.

“Jeannot Fattaccioli, who is the financial manager and more, is committed to taking over the club with some of his friends, confides Alain Orsoni. He has also worked in this direction since since taking office, he has helped save it by initially providing 4.7 million euros guaranteed on the land (the training ones as well as the Michel-Moretti stadium, editor’s note). Then, three months ago, he again brought 3 million euros during his appearance before the DNCG.” And Alain Orsoni to specify “that these sums have been paid in full to the club”.

The question surrounding the sale of the ACA has been raised for several seasons.

Potential continental, foreign buyers – an offer from a Gulf country had been refused – and Corsican were mentioned. From now on, according to Alain Orsoni, it seems that it is the local and island track which holds the rope to take back the reins.

“Let’s be clear, insists Alain Orsoni, I don’t make any decisions. The de facto president is indeed Mr. Fattaccioli. Besides, he will probably be the next president…”

Contacted on this subject this Saturday, October 12, Jean-Noël Fattaccioli has, for the moment, not responded to our requests.

On the field side, these negotiations surrounding the sale of the club do not seem to affect the work carried out by the entire staff led by the coach, Mathieu Chabert, and the sports coordinator Johan Cavalli. This is evidenced by the results of Thomas Mangani’s partners: after eight days of Ligue 2, AC Ajaccio is twelfth with eleven points, five points off the podium.

Behind the scenes, if the Bianch’è Rossi still do not have an official president, the daily administrative tasks are ensured and assumed by several people: in particular by Franck Leloup, the general director and right-hand man of Alain Orsoni within the structure .

It remains to be seen whether the upcoming change of shareholder, which could reorganize the general organization chart of the Ajaccian club on an administrative and sporting level, will have an impact on the results…

In football, it is often observed that when the offices are going, when the financial strategy is fixed, in the medium term the field works better.
