Denying having illegally engaged in sports agent activity, John Valovic-Galtier, 37, adopted son of former PSG coach Christophe Galtier, confined his role Tuesday to that of advisor and “man of confidence” of footballers, before the Marseille criminal court.
Twice, in 2017 and 2019, John Valovic-Galtier failed the player agent exam. On the occasion, he met Tristan Sauzon, a young law graduate who had successfully obtained his license with the French Football Federation.
In 2022, his relations with the Lyon-based company Score Agencies – where he worked – having deteriorated, John Valovic-Galtier created his own agency, Player Agency, in Cassis in Bouches-du-Rhône.
At this time, Tristan Sauzon’s player agent activity was reduced to nothing. In five years, he has achieved very little turnover, with just one player, and he actually makes a living from his position as an education assistant in middle and high schools.
The transfer of Galtier to Qatar in the viewfinder
For the prosecution, Tristan Sauzon, one of the eight defendants in this trial, will serve as a cover for his associate: he had the famous FFF key allowing him to sign player transfers, John Valovic-Galtier had the player portfolio.
“I grew up in the world of football”recognizes John Valovic-Galtier, with several years of collaboration as a sports advisor at Score Agencies, where his father’s agent worked. The analysis of the transfer of Christophe Galtier from Paris SG to the Qatari club El Duhail in the summer of 2023 illustrates, for the prosecution, the real weight of his son in negotiations officially led by Mr. Sauzon.
The president of the court calls on the latter, who only appears at the official signing of the transfer: “We don’t even have messages where John Valovic-Galtier tells you : “What do you think?” You don’t seem to count for much in this operation.”.
For the transfer of Galtier and his collaborators to the emirate, Player Agency received a commission of twice 232,000 euros. In this case, where the president of the Toulouse football club (Ligue 1), Damien Comolli, or the general director of Dijon FCO (National), Emmanuel Desplats, are also being prosecuted, the indictment from the Marseille prosecutor’s office is expected on Wednesday.
