Manager Indonesian National Team Sumardji confirmed that the protest sent by PSSI regarding referee Ahmed Al Kaf in the match against Bahrain had been received by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).
This was revealed by Sumardji in an interview with CNN Indonesia TV on Tuesday (15/10). Sumardji said AFC responded to the protest letter from PSSI at 12.00 WIB this afternoon.
“Just now at 12 noon, I received a reply to the protest letter we sent from AFC. AFC stated that the protest had been received, and for further details we were asked to send a letter to FIFA,” said Sumardji.

Sumardji said that PSSI had also reported the controversy over referee Ahmed Al Kaf in the Bahrain vs Indonesia duel to FIFA.
“Actually, we have also sent it to FIFA, the answer was that we were asked to send a letter to AFC, this is a bit strange,” said Sumardji.
Finally, based on AFC’s explanation, Sumardji stated that the results of the Indonesian National Team’s match against Bahrain would not change. The 2-2 draw between Bahrain vs Indonesia did not change.
” He answered [AFC] that a letter of protest has been received [dari PSSI]and will not affect the outcome of the match. For further matters, please report to FIFA, that’s basically the reply to the letter. “The answer to the letter was like that at 12 o’clock this afternoon,” said Sumardji.
The Indonesian national team will next face China in Group C of the 2026 World Cup Qualification at Qingdao Stadium, China, Tuesday (15/10).
