Manager Indonesian National Team Sumardji, confirmed that the protest submitted by PSSI regarding referee Ahmed Al Kaf’s leadership in the match against Bahrain was not accepted by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).
In an interview with a national television station on Tuesday (15/10/2024), Sumardji revealed that PSSI received a reply from AFC at 12.00 WIB noon.
“Earlier at around 12 noon, we received a response from the AFC regarding the protest that was sent. The AFC stated that the protest was not accepted and advised us to send a further letter to FIFA,” explained Sumardji.
Apart from that, Sumardji added that PSSI had also reported a controversial incident regarding referee Ahmed Al Kaf while officiating the match between Bahrain and Indonesia to FIFA.
“Actually, we have also reported it to FIFA, but FIFA asked us to send another letter to the AFC. This is a rather confusing situation,” he added.
Sumardji emphasized that, according to the explanation from the AFC, the results of the match between the Indonesian and Bahrain national teams would not change. The final score of 2-2 recorded in the match will remain valid.
“The reply letter from the AFC stated that the protest had been received, but the match result would not change. They suggested continuing the report to FIFA if there was any follow-up. We received this answer at 12 noon,” concluded Sumardji.
