After 16 years, Municipal Games return to Salcedo

SALCEDO.- After 16 years without holding the Municipal Games, they will be held in this city, where some 900 athletes will compete in 21 disciplines, as stated at a press conference by the mayor of this city, Juan Ramón Hernández.

According to the mayor, they will take place in the different sports facilities of Salcedo, located in the area of ​​the Ignacio Reynoso complex, the softball play, the sports center, the multipurpose facility, the soccer field and the handball fields, among others. .

The opening ceremony of these games is scheduled to take place on the soccer field, where the different national and local sports authorities, as well as prominent figures from the area, have been invited.

Among the disciplines listed by Mayor Juan Ramón Hernández that will see action are basketball, handball, softball, baseball, volleyball, field soccer, chess, athletics, orienteering and cycling.

Also checkerboard, dominoes, taekwondo, kurasch, table tennis, archery, wushu, badminton, boxing, fencing and skating. They will be dedicated to the athlete Omar Alba.

For the games to have the expected success, according to Hernández, the city has been divided into 4 zones, which are number 1, comprising the sectors, Los Mangos, El Cementerio, Villa Flor, Las Caobas, La Bahía, El Rancho, Monte Inside and the mountainous area of ​​Jamao.

Zone 2 will be comprised of the neighborhoods Las Flores, Ugamba, Los Jayabo, Ojo de Agua, Agua Fría and El Jobo to Montellano. Zone 3 will be represented by EL Hoyo, La Solá, San José, Las Cuevas, Conuco to Hoyo Libre, Las Cuevas, Los Cocos, Cholongo, Los Multis de San Lorenzo and El Cementerio Viejo, while zone 4 is made up of the communities Nuns’ School, Los Maestros, Villa Miralba, Sports Complex, Alto de los Rojas, La Javilla, Palmarito, La Amargura, El Hospital, Barrio Invi, Barahona and Palmar.
