Félix and Alexis Lebrun responded. Sunday October 20, the two French table tennis players were crowned European champions in doublesafter their easy victory over Swedes Anton Kallberg and Truls Moregard, 3-0, in Linz, Austria.

The two brothers, aged 18 and 21, won the first European title in men’s doubles for France since 2004 and the victory of Patrick Chila and Jean-Philippe Gatien in Bremen. The Montpellier residents, two months after their two Olympic medals, in singles for Félix and in teams with Simon Gauzy, left no chance to the Swedes Anton Kallberg-Truls Moregard 3-0 (11-2, 11-6, 11-8 ).

“I said at the start of these championships that I wanted to come back with a title,” recalls Félix Lebrun. “It’s successful, it’s magnificent”affirms the one who experienced his brother’s other final as a spectator.

And it is now done. Just hours after his first European title, Alexis Lebrun won the title of European champion in singles, after his big victory against the German Benedikt Duda, 4-0.

With this victory, he becomes the third Frenchman to win this titleeight years after Emmanuel Lebesson in Budapest and almost half a century after Jacques Secutin, in Prague, in 1976.

As Félix holds his racket, in “penholder” grip, the two brothers have once again picked up the pen to continue writing the history of the tricolor pingtwo months after a dream summer in Paris.
