From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

Il All-Japan Judo Championship (全日本柔道選手権大会, Zennihon jūdō senshuken taikai) is a judo tournament held annually in Japan. The men’s tournament takes place in the Nippon Budokan on April 29, while the women’s tournament (translated as “Empress cup All-Japan women’s Judo championships”) takes place in the Yokohama Cultural Gymnasium in April. The tournament is organized by the Kōdōkan and the All Japan Judo Federation.

In this tournament there is only one open-weight category (without restrictions). I became part of the weight category organized separately from the All-Japan Selected Judo Championships (全日本選抜柔道体重別選手権大会, Zennihon senbatsu jūdō taijūbetsu senshuken taikai) and Kodokan Cup (講道館杯, K ōdōkan hai).

For Japanese judoka it is one of the three most important tournaments, on the same level as the Olympic Games and the World Judo Championships. Since 2011 we have been fighting under international rules.
