It’s time for the Coupe d’Occitanie this Saturday, October 19 (8 p.m.) for the “<a href="https://www.archysport.com/2022/11/valence-sur-baise-basketball-echoes-of-the-vcgb/" title="Valence-sur-Baise. Basketball: echoes of the VCGB“>Vécégébistes“, before offering supporters of the club a “new experience” next weekend.

The VCGB is taking a break from the championship to make way for the Coupe d’Occitanie, this Saturday, October 19, which will see them travel a second time in two weeks to Montauban. Championship winners in Tarn-et-Garonne, the “Vécégébistes” hope to do it again.

But the task will not be easy for several reasons. Montauban, which remains on three consecutive defeats, will want to relaunch itself through this competition, they who will receive the Ruthenian co-leader next week. As for the Gersois, still deprived of their playmaker Dufau, they will also want to prepare well for their next two meetings which will see them play the two co-leaders, Mont-de-Marsan and Rodez.

It is therefore a confrontation between two teams who will need to prepare well for the next events which are coming up this Saturday evening.

“We want to move the lines”

The next day of Nationale 3 will see the VCGB receive the leader, Mont-de-Marsan, Saturday October 26, at the Jacques-Baurens room. Beyond the sporting aspect which will be major, it is the animation around this meeting that the club wants to highlight.

It will indeed be an opportunity to experience a “unique” moment, “never before” in the Gers. Participate in a meal (match entry included), served by a caterer, on the Arena floor, during the match. Tasting fine dishes while being as close as possible to the players is a real challenge that the VCGB wants to succeed, which confirms the desire to unite through actions around basketball matches.

This revival had its first event during “Media Day” in August, which was held in the vineyards of a winegrower. This confirms the words of Jonathan Vivès, president of the VCGB, during the general assembly, expressing the desire to be proud of the territory and heritage. “We want to innovate in our actions. It’s a real gamble because like all innovations, we cannot be sure of the result. However, we must find a way to unite so that our structure can live as well as possible,” confided Jonathan Vivès.
