the essential
This Saturday, November 2, at 6 p.m., the Gimontoises will host, on behalf of the 6th day of Women’s National 2, the Roche Vendée Espoirs team. A training course not to be taken too lightly despite its results, otherwise you will become disillusioned…
A match not to be taken lightly for the Gersoises, even if they will host young players who have not yet managed to win a single match. We will therefore have to avoid a misstep which would cause disorder and thwart Gimont’s objectives. Étoile Sportive de Gimont remains on two consecutive victories after a difficult start to the season, passing 20 points to Espoirs de Tarbes, before going to scare itself on the floor of Garonne Avenir Basket by not winning at the very end of the match only 2 points.
After these two successes, one might think that Saturday afternoon’s match against La Roche Vendée Espoirs will be a simple formality, the “Tigresses” having so far only recorded defeats. But this assessment is a sham. On the one hand because four of these five matches ended in a gap of 1 to 7 points, only the “industrial accident” suffered in Chauray (- 36) making a mark. On the other hand because the team seems to be in constant progress, the younger Yonnaises gaining over time the measure of a championship where intensity reigns.
Beware of disillusionment
Finally, the RVBC has an inexperienced but talented and fierce squad in defense, spearheaded by captain Anaïs Bessonnet, as well as Marie Diame, Pauline Neau and Ashley Bawara. Thus, the students of coach Anthony Gourdin-Servenier deserve to be considered with respect.
The Gasconnes of Julie Bergada and Sylvie Gruszczynski will therefore have to apply themselves, not underestimate their opponents of the day and work on one of their big weak points, the start of the third quarter, usual “black hole” of the team: only the Espoirs de Tarbes having managed to dominate the “Étoilistes” in this period over five matches!
In short, the ESG is preparing to play a meeting that is undoubtedly less unbalanced than it appears on paper. But by approaching it with the necessary concentration, the Gersoises should overcome the promising young Yonnaises.
