Tampa (dpa) – The Baltimore Ravens scored an important victory on the way to the NFL playoffs and defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers away from home. In the 41:31 win in Florida, quarterback Lamar Jackson excelled with five touchdowns. “We started a little slow, but we came back,” he said on US television, referring to the 10-0 deficit at the start of the football game. “We just took every play for itself. We all did a good job.”
The Ravens also benefited from the injury to Buccaneers pass receiver Mike Evans. He had to leave the field with the score at 10:7 when the Bucs missed the chance for another touchdown in two consecutive scenes. The Ravens then moved ahead by up to 24 points and finally secured their fifth win in the seventh game of the season. This puts them tied with the Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC North.
For Tampa Bay, however, the path to the playoffs will now be very difficult. In the NFC South, the Buccaners have the same record as the Atlanta Falcons with four wins and three defeats after seven games. Only the first place team in this division will make it into the playoffs because too many other teams are having a better season. In addition, Tampa Bay will probably have to be without Chris Godwin for a longer period of time. Shortly before the end, the 28-year-old was carried off the pitch with a serious injury to his left ankle.
Chargers lose to Cardinals
In the second game on Monday, the Arizona Cardinals won 17:15 against the Los Angeles Chargers. The Cardinals have three wins and four defeats, while the Chargers have three wins and three defeats each. Reaching the playoffs this season will be difficult for both teams.
