The already delicate situation with which Amorebieta arrived at the emergency duel in Balaídos becomes even more complicated after conceding a third consecutive defeat that leaves the Biscayans as penultimate in the table. The blues needed to win to breathe, but for that Julen Guerrero‘s men must give more in all facets. There were some positive moments in the match, but they clearly weren’t enough. The facilities offered in defense and the lack of finish were, one more day, a burden that Celta Fortuna knew how to take advantage of to score, keep three valuable points and sink a little more to an Amorebieta that needs to rearm itself, especially on a moral level.

News was expected in the blue eleven and so it was. Three new faces, with Iñigo Muñoz, Yuste and the return of goalkeeper Unai Marino after serving a suspension, but also a remodeled tactical scheme, betting on three center backs and two long lanes to equip themselves in defense, but also to add troops in attack looking for quick deployments .

  • Goals: 1-0, min. 27: Fer López; 1-1, min, 36: Yoel Lago (pp); 2-1, min. 50: Tincho; 3-1, min, 79: Escobar.

  • Referee: Conejero Sánchez (Extremaduran committee). He admonished Kortazar and Kaxe for Amorebieta.

The start of the match was a tedious contact between the two teams, with a little more prominence with the ball for Celta Fortuna, who had Fer López as the main nuisance for the Zornotzarra defense. Amorebieta gradually managed to wrest the ball from the sky blue reserve team to dominate the contest, although almost always far from danger zones. In one of his very few approaches he managed to score, but the action was invalidated by Álvaro Marín’s clear hand in control.

Just before half an hour, and when Julen Guerrero’s men seemed to suffer the least, the Galician team’s first goal arrived, whose shot without much power slipped under the hands of Unai Marino, who was caught on the wrong foot. The blues claimed a foul on Nakai at the beginning of the play, but the Extremaduran referee Conejero Sánchez did not consider it that way.

good minutes

That goal changed the pace of the match, which accelerated to give rise to a more entertaining and alternating match. Amorebieta this time did not suffer the blow and took a step forward in attack, led by Hervías. The tying goal came precisely from his boots, just nine minutes later. Yoel Lago cleared his cross from the right wing into the back of his own goal.

From there, the blues went from strength to strength. Another cross from the seasoned blue winger was about to be headed home by Julen Jon at the far post, but the centre-back anticipated just enough to avoid it. They were also very close to scoring when Nakai joined the attack, with a low cross from the Japanese that sailed through the small area without a finisher. Of course, before the break, the omnipresent Fer López was about to give Urritxe’s team another scare, but this time his shot from the penalty spot went wide.

Back to the old ways

The restart of the match after passing through the locker room was not exactly positive for the blues. Too contemplative in defense, Celta Fortuna took advantage of it to lock them in their area. In the first minute, Ángel Arcos starred in an individual action by baseline that was just a warning. Because in the 50th minute, and faced with Biscay’s passivity, Tincho took the opportunity to shoot low from the edge of the area and put his team ahead again. They were minutes of harassment in which the light blue team came close to scoring twice, especially with a shot by Barreiros from the crown of the area that grazed the wood.

Guerrero made a move and hit a triple swing, a move that relaunched the team for a few minutes. Led by Ben Hamed who carried the team on his back, they looked for the equalizer, but without success. And Amorebieta has a serious problem with generating scoring chances. Up to three quarters of the field, fine. From there, nothing.

That push, however, dissipated as the minutes passed, allowing Celta Fortuna to gain meters again too easily. Unai Marino saved the day in the 73rd minute with a double save of enormous merit against two point-blank shots by Fer López. Five later, Miguel Román sent a shot to the crossbar. In the next play, the one who did not fail was Escobar, who scored the third with a very good left foot from far away. It was a definitive blow for Amorebieta who in the final minutes did not concede any more goals due to the lack of skill of the celestials.
