The Anti-Violence Commission proposes a complete closure of the Metropolitan stadium for fifteen days, in addition to proposing a fine of 65,000 euros to Atlético de Madrid. All of this comes after the incidents suffered in the Madrid derby, where several members of the Atlético Front threw lighters at Thibaut Courtois, so the match had to be stopped for approximately a quarter of an hour.

Two weeks ago, the agency dependent on the Ministry of the Interior already met regarding this same event. Its members described the incidents that occurred in the derby against Real Madrid as “very serious” and, therefore, they have already expressed their wish that the sanctions mark “a before and after” in all of Spanish sport. As the CSD itself explained in a statement, they called what happened at the Metropolitano “unacceptable.”

«In no case is it permissible to normalize behaviors that are far from good public order, the collaboration of all attendees being necessary to maintain football as a safe sporting spectacle. “Sport should be a space of coexistence and respect, where fans cheer on their teams with passion, but always in compliance with the rules of respect, civility and safety.”

It so happens that the red and white club Atlético has already expelled a total of four members, all of them involved in throwing objects at Thibaut Courtois. The red and white team does not stop working on it and it is expected that there will be more exemplary sanctions for club subscribers who generate events of this type and that they will no longer be able to enter the Colchonero coliseum.

To date, the club has already been sanctioned with a fine of 45,000 euros and with the partial closure of the lower south end of the Metropolitan stadium for three matches, a place from which objects were thrown towards the white team’s goalkeeper. This sanction will apply to the next three games that Atlético de Madrid plays at home: against Leganés, Las Palmas and Alavés.

The club chaired by Enrique Cerezo has already appealed against the sanction before the Appeals Committee, considering it “disproportionate”: “The unacceptable behavior of a few cannot result in such an excessive punishment towards a large majority that did not commit any fault.” And it is estimated that in that area of the stadium around 8,000 people come to watch each match who, as usual, would pay the righteous for the sinners.

Atlético also emphasizes that it condemned the events and acted quickly with the police to identify those responsible for the embarrassment and remove them as subscribers. Sources from the mattress club also remember that in that area you can only access with a fingerprint and that season tickets are not transferable.

Contrary to what appears from the facts and the antecedents of the Atlético Front, Atlético denies that it supports and protects criminals or those violent people who watch the games hidden in balaclavas. And they remember that this group of ultras does not exist as an official club of the club since Jimmy’s murder occurred near the Vicente Calderón after a brawl between radical fans who came from various parts of Spain.
