Archery, Mauro Nespoli aims for the big target in the World Cup Finals

Two months after the conclusion of the Paris Olympic Games, the last major international event of the outdoor season is scheduled for this weekend for archery. From Saturday 19th to Sunday 20th October Tlaxcala (in Mexico) will host the World Cup Finals 2024which will crown the winners of the world’s top outdoor circuit.

Italy will be represented by two athletes in this edition of the event, Mauro Nespoli in the men’s Olympic arc ed Elisa Roner in the women’s compound. Seventh career participation (the fourth in a row) in the World Cup Final for the 36-year-old native of Voghera, still looking for his first seal after having reached the podium twice (second in Moscow 2019, third in Hermosillo 2023).

In this case Nespoli will have to contend with the South Koreans Kim Woojin (reigning Olympic gold) and Lee Woo Seok (individual bronze in Paris), the Brazilian Marcus D’Almeida (winner of the last World Cup), the Spaniard Andres Temiño Mediel , the Frenchman Thomas Chirault, the Indian Dhiraj Bommadevara and the Mexican wild card Matias Grande.

Absolute debut instead at the World Cup Finals in the compound for Roner (winner of the last two editions of the Indoor World Series Finals in Las Vegas), qualified thanks to the success in the Antalya stage and ready to face the Colombian champion Sara Lopez in Tlaxcala, the Estonian Meeri-Marita Paas, the British n.1 in the ranking Ella Gibson, the Indian Jyothi Vennam, the American Alexis Ruiz and the Mexicans Andrea Becerra and Dafne Quintero.
