He is ranked 5 in singles, 6 in doubles and 7 in mixed. “I went up to 5 in singles last August. At the club, I do interclub men’s 1 and mixed 2. I play around ten tournaments per year.”
He participated in the Plume Stéphanoise tournament at the start of the season. “I won in mixed 6/7 with my friend Sophie Maes. I play doubles with her in tournaments as well as in interclubs. We are both ranked 7. We will move up the rankings and pass 6indicates Arnaud Lebrun. We want to keep the same rankings to be able to continue playing together.”
Last Saturday, during the tournament organized by their club in Nivelles, they were narrowly eliminated (23-25 in the third set) in the first round.
Objective: Belgian U19 Championship
Arnaud Lebrun has ambition. “Ultimately, I would like to go up 1 or 2. I would like to compete in the European Championships. My father participated in the senior European championships at the end of August 2024.”
Vincent Lebrun was eliminated in the first round in mixed with Myriam Houa, he spent a round in men’s doubles with François Janssens. Arnaud Lebrun is aiming for the Belgian youth championships. “I will participate this year in the Belgian championships in U19“, he says.
He trains three times a week, on Fridays during supervised training, and twice in free play. “I entered university at UCLouvain in computer sciences. Maybe I’ll move up to the university team which would allow me to have additional training.”
Cast 4 in doubles
Arnaud Lebrun has another objective. Get the same ranking as his dad. “He was series A in doubles. He is now ranked 4 in doubles and mixed and 5 in singles. I am currently ranked 6 in doubles. If I go up to 5, I will be able to play with him in a tournament. The objective would be to play together at the Cardinal Mercier tournament in Braine-l’Alleud next April.”
