ASC rightful winner against TAVV

ASC rightful winner against TAVV

Crazy things can happen in the third class E. The battle will ensue
For a number of clubs, it is mainly about the positions that determine whether you stay in or whether you are relegated, whether or not after a grueling play-offs. Both the home team
like Ludo Pistorius’ team have little appetite for that scenario and of course try to gain points to stay away from fear football.

The first half

ASC had veterans Ralph van Zandwijk and Sean Goebel back in the starting line-up, which meant that Jeroen van Bergen and Joris Aartman were referred to the bench. Van Zandwijk provided excellent leadership to the ASC defense and captain Goebel pulled the team together as usual, working hard and coaching. If you have a strong defense that dominates the air and a goalkeeper who is reliable, you are in a good starting position. And so it happened.

ASC started and finished in the familiar 4-3-3 formation of trainer Stefan Kraaijvanger. “I think that with our qualities we are the best at playing football. Solid defense, a controlling midfield and power up front.” Before the break, his strategy was absolutely correct. ASC was strong on the ball and had the field dominance. Yet the feeling of experimenting and not wanting to take (too) little risk had both teams in its grip. ASC was in charge across the board, especially Diederik Bertels
moved the game from the defense to the flanks with measured passes across the entire field.

In the 25th minute, a good action resulted in an excellent continuation through Goebel, who served striker Victor Schipholt who beautifully scored the 1-0 from a difficult angle. Whether the goal was sustainable was doubted, but given the otherwise good goalkeeping work of Derek van der Loo, we still regard it as a nice goal.

TAVV played grouped from an organized defense and midfield with the intention to make a difference offensively. Nick Straver came closest
the goal, but his inswinging shot was stylishly stopped by goalkeeper Max van Wijk. The home team pushed a few more times to convert the field dominance into goals. Schipholt still had a good chance through a pass from Timme van Rooijen, but Van der Loo was at his post and so it remained a meager 1-0.

The second half

Logically, TAVV tried to change the game pattern after halftime
also worked. More pressure forward and from midfield towards the enemy goal. In terms of football it looked quite nice, but when TAVV it didn’t work anymore
knew the long ball was used. And they didn’t find that difficult at ASC
tall men in the back. Certainly not the outstanding Boy Jansen and him
Berrie Sartib in particular provided good crosses. His hard work paid off
almost rewarded halfway through the second half. He played his way out deftly
Schipholt headed the cross hard and out of reach
goalkeeper on the crossbar.

Except for Randy Verwoerd’s dismissal, TAVV did not come
close to the equalizer. With Leon de Lange for Stan van Smoorenburg, TAVV tried to turn the tide, but ASC did not give up and continued to concentrate on controlling the match. Schipholt almost came close to making it 2-0, but Van der Loo saved the day. In the final phase, TAVV started pumping and it still delivered
a few more chances. The home team made it unnecessarily difficult for themselves,
but perhaps it had to do with the will to win a match. By
Bergen and Thomas Bax were brought in to ASC to consolidate. And that happened.

So there was satisfaction in the red-black camp and after the match that was it
relax in the ‘Bavarian’ clubhouse. For the time being, the flag is hanging differently for the Ter Aarders with only one point from four games played.
