Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Taufik Hidayat was asked about the development of Indonesian football. He plans to directly review developments in detail.
As the number two person in the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora), Taufik will assist the role of Menpora Dito Ariotedjo, especially in improving sports achievements on the international stage.
Well, one of the sports that many Indonesians are interested in apart from badminton is football.

Public expectations for this team sport have recently become higher due to the success of the Indonesian National Team in various championships.
One of them is qualifying for the 2023 Asian Cup and the U-23 Asian Cup, as well as becoming history for Indonesian football. Because, in that event the squad led by Shin Tae-yong also reached the semifinals in the age group category.
The Indonesian national team also almost qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympics. If only they had not lost to Guinea U-23 with a score of 0-1 in the inter-confederation play off, it is possible that the Garuda Muda Team would have competed in the most prestigious multi-event in the world last July.
In fact, the Indonesian national team is currently maintaining its hopes of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup in the Asian zone. Currently, they are in the third round and will continue to fight for the next matches.
Realizing this, Taufik Hidayat admitted that he was still just monitoring. Moreover, he was just inaugurated on Monday (21/10) and will still undergo debriefing with the Minister and Deputy Ministers of the Red and White Cabinet at the Magelang Military Academy, Central Java, in the next few days.
“I’ve just looked at it, I don’t know the details yet, maybe later with Deputy IV for Achievement what it will be like, I’ll look at it too, I’ll also review this sport of football,” said Taufik at the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
“And we will know later, if the target is the 2028 Olympics, of course we will prioritize the sports that are taking part in the Olympics,” he said.
“Moreover, what the Minister also said earlier is that the big target is 2028. That is the target of our President, Mr Prabowo. And before that, there are still many matches that must be taken part in. There are the SEA Games, there are the Asian Games, and there are others too.”
“And as for what future responsibilities will be like, how they will be distributed, maybe later the Minister will also say that rightly, then we will discuss it every day. We don’t have to be specific, it has to be this, it has to be that, it doesn’t have to be either. We will be the ones who will be flexible in what meets the requirements. the needs of athletes, especially young people,” said Taufik Hidayat.
