Awarded 5th Dan

PSV Fürstenwalde celebrated its 70th anniversary with a belated birthday party together with the club members. A bowling evening, lots of stories from old and new times and, above all, a cozy get-together, it was exactly the right recipe for the club for its anniversary celebration. “The sport connects old and young, no matter where everyone comes from,” says the club’s deputy chairman René Kapischke.

The board of PSV Fürstenwalde also used this opportunity to particularly honor a club member. Thomas Sternberg has been a member of PSV Fürstenwalde since 2016 and, although he lives a bit away, he works for the club both as a trainer and as a referee. In the more than 40 years that Thomas Sternberg has been loyal to judo, he has become known primarily as a referee. He has had the DJB-B license since 1998 and has been working as a DJB-A judge since 2003. In this context, he repeatedly has national and international assignments and was referee chairman of District Union 4 for many years. With the reformation of the referee commission in 2024, he is now also a member of the commission.

Thomas Sternberg was very moved to accept the 5th Dan award from the club chairman Ralf Sicker and Karl-Heinz Merz.
