Badminton: Double match day with two away wins for Green-White in the second Bundesliga

VfB Grün-Weiß Mülheim played against league leaders SpVgg Sterkrade-Nord on Saturday, October 19th
In a completely open encounter with often close results, VfB Grün-Weiß Mülheim managed to inflict their first defeat of the current season on SpVgg Sterkrade-Nord. The points for Mülheim got: Alexander Roovers and Vasily Kuznetsov in the first men’s doubles against the Belgians Yaro and Iljo van Delsen. Won the women’s doubles Xenia Kölmel and Maria Kuse against Bianca Blankenstein/Sabrina Becker. The mixed doubles started Vasily Kuznetsov and Maria Kuse against Niclas Lohau/Bianca Blankenstein. Xenia Kölmel won the women’s singles after Ramona Hacks had to retire due to injury.

On Sunday, October 20th, we played against STC Blau-Weiß Solingen in Solingen

In Solingen, VfB Grün-Weiß Mülheim achieved their first three-point win of the season with a 6-1 win. Here we could again Alexander Roovers and Vasily Kuznetsov score in the first men’s doubles. Xenia Kölmel and Maria Kuse won the women’s doubles against Alicia Molitor/Sophie Heidebrecht. In the first men’s singles Alexander Roovers prevailed in four sets against local hero Niklas Niemczyk. Xenia Kölmel won easily in three sets against Alicia Molitor and the mixed doubles won Vasily Kuznetsov with Maria Kuse against Markus Hennes/Sophie Heidebrecht.
In the second men’s singles, new arrivals made a difference Dorian Florin Tihi with his smooth three-set win over Niels Kock for the final score of 6:1 – and thus for the third point in the table.
With a total of five points from two games, VfB Grün-Weiß Mülheim climbed to fourth place in the table.
It continues at home on November 9th, 2:00 p.m., against SC Union 08 Lüdinghausen.
