Badminton: First team conquers top of the table

The four badminton teams from SG Dornstadt/Laupheim had a successful second day of association play. Despite the away disadvantage, SG I defended its top spot in the table with two wins. The second and third teams were able to win two points. The fourth team got their first point of the season.

The first team around Max Pfanz-Sponagel, Markus Schüritz, Akshaya Saraboji, Charlotte Bögelein, Thiemo Sokolowski and Anders Stier was very successful. The team won 6:2 against TSV Altshausen II and in the evening game 7:1 against VfL Herrenberg II. This means that the “First” climbs to the top of the table in the “South Württemberg” association league.

The SG II around Matthias Engler, Korbinian Wieja, Alexandra Wörz, Lea Köpp, Severin Wieja and Nico Blazevic competed in the first encounter against Heidenheimer SB. The team achieved a 6-2 victory in close games. Driven by this victory, SG II met ASV Bellenberg in the evening game. Unfortunately, the team had to settle for an 8-0 defeat. Despite this defeat, the “second team” holds the acceptable fifth place in the national league ” Zollern / Alb Donau ” due to their good previous performance.

The “third” team initially competed at ASV Bellenberg II. In this match only the women’s doubles and the women’s singles could be booked into their account and so the team had to admit defeat with a 2:6 defeat. Things went even better in the evening game against the Balzheim shooting club. With a 6:2 win, SG III took third place in the “Alb-Donau” district league.

The match day was similarly successful for SG IV. Like the “third team”, the fourth team lost the game against ASV Bellenberg II. Nevertheless, they managed a 4:4 draw against the Balzheim shooting club and got their first point in the season of the “Alb-Donau” district league. With this draw, SG IV takes seventh place in the “Alb-Donau” district league.

The SG’s next matchday will take place on November 9th for the first time on home soil.
