As in Ezanville, two weeks ago, the Volant des Dômes Clermont shared the points with Guichen last Saturday in Nationale 1 badminton. Two draws (4-4), which place the promoted Clermontois in 4th place, out of six teams, in pool 1.
Second draw in a row for the Volant des Dômes Clermont badists in the French National 1 championship, last Saturday at the Raymond-Perrier gymnasium.
For the first meeting in their history at home in N1, the Clermontois faced a solid team from Guichen (Ille-et-Vilaine), counting in its ranks two former French champions and a junior French vice-champion.
The task promised to be difficult but the Clermont badists came very close to victory, obtaining a share of the points (4-4), as on the first day, in Ezanville, in Val-d’Oise.
In the men’s singles, Thomas Maury, diminished by an injury, was unable to compete against Matteo Justel.

Rémi Poulbot put in a very good performance but the experience of his opponent, Ervin Kelhoffner, the only Frenchman qualified for the Beijing Olympics, changed the match.
In the women’s singles, Charline Vanhulle and Noémie Poulbot ensured and allowed the VDD to score 2 points.
Third day in N1 at home against Boulogne-Billancourt, October 26
The men’s doubles Mathieu Perrin/Lalaina Ramanana-Rahary and the women’s doubles Juliette Bastide/Charline Vanhulle lost in 3 sets against very strong opposition.
In mixed doubles, the strong point of the Clermont team, the pairs Maury/Poulbot and Perrin/Bastide dominated their opponents in 2 sets.
At the end of this second day of interclubs, the VDD ranks 4th in its N1 group, 2 pts behind Union Saint-Bruno, the current leader.
Badminton: for the first time, a Nationale 1 meeting in Clermont, with the Volant des Dômes
To raise the curtain, team 2 of Volant des Dômes also obtained a draw, against Tours. In the rankings, it occupies 3rd place in its National 3 group, 3 points behind leader Blois.
The next interclub day will take place on Saturday October 26 at the Raymond-Perrier gymnasium in Clermont Ferrand, where the VDD will host Limoges (team 2) and Boulogne-Billancourt (team 1).
