In the next 1 or 2 years, Barcelona will almost certainly look to sign a striker to succeed Robert Lewandowski.
The 36-year-old Pole will expire in June, but he will almost certainly trigger an automatic 12-month extension at some point this season – despite this, a deal for his replacement is still expected to be sought next summer.
Recently, it was reported that Lewandowski’s dream successor for Barcelona was Erling Haaland. However, he could end up costing an impossible sum as Manchester City reportedly have no desire to part with the best striker in world football. As such, alternative targets would be considered.
According to reports in England (via CaughtOffside), two players Barcelona are monitoring are Alexander Isak and Darwin Nunez. In the case of the first, Deco would have already met his agent earlier this year.
Isak would be a sensational successor for Lewandowski, although Barcelona’s chances of signing him from Newcastle United would depend on them being able to significantly improve their finances over the next 12 months. Nunez would probably be cheaper, given he’s not particularly popular at Liverpool.
