The Dodgers defeated the New York Mets 10-5 on Sunday to win their series 4-2. This will be the 12th time in MLB history that the Dodgers and Yankees will face each other in the World Series, a record, but the first since 1981, enough to revive the historic rivalry between the two franchises.

The Yankees, who hold the record 27 trophies, have not played in the final since 2009, while the Dodgers, seven times champions, return to the World Series for the fourth time in eight years. The series begins Friday in Los Angeles, a best-of-seven match.

Shohei Ohtani, Japanese baseball superstar who joined the Dodgers at the end of 2023 with a historic contract ($700 million over ten years), will play his first World Series at the age of 30. “I have dreamed of participating in this my whole life,” commented Ohtani.
