Simone Pianigiani, one of the greatest protagonists of Italian and international basketball, returns to take on the role of technical commentator on Dazn for the 2024/2025 season. After a career that has seen him compete at the highest levels on parquets all over the world, Pianigiani will bring his extensive knowledge of the ball and his analytical ability directly to basketball fans again this year, commenting on some of the most important challenges of the top Italian and European championship.
“I am very happy to continue the journey with the Dazn team, a young, dynamic, cohesive and above all passionate group, which is part of a reality that has become a point of reference for football fans”, comments Pianigiani. “It is early to make predictions for the new season, however, from what we have already seen in the first days of the championship and in European competitions, we perceive a great balance, with several very interesting rosters and matches that are decided at the last second.”
The debut as a commentator is set for the Serie match between EA7 Emporio Armani Milano and Germani Brescia, live on Sunday 13 October 2024 at 5.00 pm. The match will not only pit two of the most ambitious teams in the championship against each other, but also “pupil” against “master”: on one side Ettore Messina’s Olimpia, one of the most renowned clubs both in Italy and in Europe, on the other the team coached by Giuseppe Poeta (Messina’s deputy in the last two seasons), a rapidly growing team which, in recent years, has established itself as one of the main outsiders, capable of successfully challenging even the most highly rated teams.
In the bouquet of matches commented by the former national coach there will not only be Serie A, but also the Euroleague, the most prestigious club competition in Europe. The first appointment will once again see Olimpia Milano as the protagonist, engaged in the match against the Lithuanian side Zalgiris Kaunas, one of the most solid teams in the league coached by coach Trinchieri, scheduled for Tuesday 17 October 2024 at 8.30pm on Dazn.
