Basketball: LeBron James plays with his son in NBA game

In addition to several records, the US basketball star LeBron James has added another NBA premiere to his career: at the season opener with the Los Angeles Lakers he ran at the same time as his son Bronny James. For the first time in the history of the top North American basketball league, father and son were on the court at the same time for the same team.

Four minutes before halftime in the game against the Minnesota Timberwolves, 39-year-old LeBron and 20-year-old Bronny were substituted on at the same time to cheers from the fans. However, Bronny was only on the floor for three minutes and didn’t score, while LeBron scored 16 points. The team won the game 110:103 (55:42).

Bronny James was selected in this year’s draft, the talent draw of the NBAselected by the Lakers. However, his preparation for the season was not convincing and his future role with the second most successful club in the NBA is still unclear.

“I missed a lot of my son’s experiences because I was often at away games,” said LeBron. “To experience this moment is one of the greatest gifts I have received from God.”

LeBron James has been selected to the NBA’s annual All-Star team 20 times, more often than any other player. With more than 40,000 points scored in a career spanning more than 20 years, the winger is also the NBA’s record scorer, ahead of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. He has been playing for the Lakers since 2018.
