Basketball: Wagner brothers excel in the German NBA duel

The Orlando Magic can rely on their German brother duo in the NBA game against Dennis Schröder‘s Brooklyn Nets. Daniel Theis also had a successful second day of play with the New Orleans Pelicans.

In the North American professional basketball league NBA, Franz and Moritz Wagner won the world champion duel against Dennis Schröder. At the Kia Center at home, the Orlando Magic beat the Brooklyn Nets 116:101 and won their second win in the second game.

The Magic’s outstanding man was top scorer Franz Wagner, who had 29 points, six rebounds and five assists. The 23-year-old started his team’s decisive 13-0 run with two free throws just under five minutes before the end of the third quarter. Brother Moritz also played a strong game. Coming off the bench, he recorded a total of 18 points and three rebounds in just 15 minutes of playing time.

Franz Wagner attracted a lot of attention last summer when he signed a new contract and became the highest-paid German athlete. Orlando will pay Wagner 206 million euros for his contract, which runs until 2030. With an annual salary of over 40 million euros, he probably gets about twice as much as German soccer stars Manuel Neuer and Joshua Kimmich.
