Everything is new for the Bottroper BG’s third team this season. League, players and even the game system. After the end of last season, the third team, which was relegated from the district class to the district league, was withdrawn. The second team was strengthened with the addition of players. A new third team was nevertheless registered: in the hobby league.
The hobby league is the lowest division in badminton and is not directly connected to the league system of the NRW regional association. Therefore it is not possible to climb up or down and the focus is solely on having fun. With only two men’s singles, two men’s doubles and two mixed doubles, the game system is also different and you can only achieve six points per game. The BBG consciously decided to step into the hobby league in order to introduce the club’s many hobby players to the teams. And with success. Four women and thirteen men were enthusiastic about joining the team.
The first point was scored in the first game with a 3-3 draw at Essener BC. A narrow 4-2 defeat also followed away at TSV Viktoria Mülheim. In general, the opponents of the new team are not easy. Mülheim played in the district league last season, while their upcoming opponents, Dorstener BC, played in the district league. Nevertheless, they are currently in a solid fourth place and the BBG is unstoppable, especially in terms of effort. The team puts a lot of passion into it, fills several fields in the hall during training every week and is also represented at several tournaments in the region
