VEENENDAAL The badminton players of BC ‘t Veen have achieved a big victory against a direct competitor for the top places. The score was 6-2 against Pluumke in the De Vallei sports hall on Saturday.

‘t Veen faced her opponent with a slightly changed position. In the men’s doubles, there was initially no sign that Ben van Luttikhuizen and Wouter Fondse were playing together for the first time because the first set was easily won (21-11). Things were a lot more difficult in the second set. Despite the fact that a large deficit was made up, the opponent walked away with the win (21-17). The third set had to be the deciding one and after a very exciting end (21-19) the Veenendalers took the first point.

There was also a different face in the women’s doubles in the person of Viona Lapré, who competed with Jamie van Brienen. After a very exciting first set in which two set points were lost, it was ‘t Veen that remained on the right side of the score (22-20). Things went even better in the second set and it was easily won by the ladies from Veenendaal (21-15).

BIG LEAD

As usual, Van Luttikhuizen was the first gentleman during the home games and he showed that he is in good shape. The score may suggest that it went easily, but Van Luttikhuizen had to work hard to win (21-7 21-13).

After this great victory it was Lapré’s turn to take the fourth point. It soon became clear that she was a few classes better than her opponent who literally saw every corner of the field. The difference in strength was well expressed with 21-11 and 21-7.

TWO POINTS AGAINST

While Fondse’s single normally scores a point, this was not the case this time. He failed to reach his usual level and suffered a defeat for the first time this season (18-21 11-21).

Van Brienen also fell short and also lost in two sets. The first set was still exciting, but in the second a victory remained far from sight (19-21 14-21).

MARGIN RESTORED

The mixed matches always come after the singles matches. Van Brienen and Van Luttikhuizen were ready quickly and showed that they can play excellently together. With 21-11 and 21-12 they once again remained undefeated in this discipline this season.

Fondse and Lapré had played together before and it showed. Even though they struggled at times, they ultimately won both sets with a small difference (22-20 and 21-18).

The competition continues on November 9 where BC ‘t Veen will visit perhaps the challenger for the title, BC Ulftse 2 from Ulft. Both teams have 21 points from 4 games and are therefore joint third, behind Mariken and Stuban who have both played one more game.
