The weekend will be historic for the Bears Football team. Parobé’s team will face Coritiba Crocodiles, from Curitiba-PR, in the quarterfinals of the third division of the Brazilian Championship of the sport. The duel will take place on Saturday, at 2:30 pm, at the old Beira Rio site, in Igrejinha.
Only victory matters, as it is a single match. Whoever advances in Igrejinha will face Ponta Grossa Phantoms in the semifinals, who defeated Arapongas Golden Phoenix 33-3.
“The confrontation with the Crocodiles is decisive for the Bears’ future in D3. The team is training intensely to win this crucial game. The home advantage gives us an advantage, but we know it will be a difficult battle. The promise is of an exciting game, where the Bears will fight until the end to secure their place in the competition. The Bears didn’t come to be supporting players and we’re going to leave everything on the field”, says Elemar Ramos, Alê, who plays strong safety.
The good performance of the team from Rio Grande do Sul gave them the right to decide at home. The Bears ranked 1st in Group A, while the Coritiba Crocodiles came in 2nd in Group B. Parobé’s team has a campaign with two victories. In the first match, the Bears beat Criciúma Iron Tigers 56-0. Afterwards, they defeated Gravataí Spartans 8-0.
“The stage in which the competition is at speaks for itself, it is Playoffs. We expect a very tough game against the very talented and very traditional Coritiba Crocodiles team. It will be a game of “details” where whoever makes the fewest mistakes will get the spot. We expect a well-fought game where the Bears defense will test its solidity and the attack will face an opponent who is tough and relentless in its marking”, emphasizes linebacker Leandro Kohlrausch.
