Former US Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is investing a huge amount of money in political advertisements targeting transgender rights issues.

According to the US CBS broadcast recently, political data company Ad Impact revealed that the Trump campaign spent $19 million (approximately 25.9 billion won) on two TV advertisements this month. This advertisement aired nearly 55,000 times. The Trump-supporting super PAC ‘MAGA’ also invested $1.1 million (about 1.5 billion won) in a similar advertisement and aired it more than 6,000 times.

A Trump campaign official said, “The ad is being aired widely in major states and has been included in broadcasts of NFL and college football games.”

The advertisement focuses on gender reassignment surgery for transgender prisoners. The video attacks Democratic presidential candidate Vice President Kamala Harris by quoting his 2019 remarks. “Kamala is for them (transgender people), Trump is for you,” the ad claims.

Experts analyze that Trump’s advertising strategy is aimed at the small number of transgender rights supporters. According to a recent Gallup poll, only 38% of voters said transgender rights were “important” in the U.S. presidential election.

The main concerns of American voters include the economy, abortion, and immigration. Trump appears to be pursuing a strategy to increase his approval ratings by attacking Harris on transgender issues, which most voters do not pay much attention to.

“Political advertising usually serves to confirm existing emotions rather than persuade new voters,” said Cameron Shelton, a professor at Claremont McKenna University. “If the Trump campaign finds and emphasizes issues that resonate with voters, it could have an impact on the election.” ” he analyzed.

Trump often uses the phrase “keep men out of women’s sports” on the campaign trail, and this is the most popular slogan at his rallies, CBS reported.
