Tom Brady, considered the best quarterback of NFL history, becomes the owner of an NFL team.

The Associated Press reported on the 16th that Brady purchased a 5% stake in the NFL Las Vegas Raiders. The NFL owners’ meeting also unanimously approved the purchase of Brady’s shares.

The Las Vegas team was founded in 1960, and has been based in Las Vegas since 2020 after playing in Oakland and Los Angeles. Although they reached the Super Bowl three times in 1976, 1980, and 1983, they were unable to win a championship for over 40 years.

Brady said via X (formerly Twitter), “I am very honored and excited. “I want to contribute to the organization in every way possible and provide better service to the fans,” he said. “I want to find every way to win the game.” “It’s an exciting day for the club,” said Mark Davis, majority owner of the Las Vegas club. He did not hide his expectations, saying, “Although Brady will not be able to play in the game, he will be of great help in selecting and training quarterbacks in the future.”

Brady, who played 23 seasons for the New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, won seven Super Bowl championships and was named Super Bowl Most Valuable Player (MVP) five times, is called the best quarterback in history. In particular, after announcing his retirement in February of last year, he attracted attention by signing a 10-year contract with Fox Sports for a total of $375 million (about 510.9 billion won) as a commentator.

However, once Brady takes office as team owner, his activities as a commentator will be restricted. According to NFL league rules, Brady cannot access other teams’ training, players, or coaching staff, nor can he publicly criticize league officials or other teams.
