The finalist Carlos Alcaraz, who lost to him in Riyadh, however, admitted it: the enormous amount of prize money lured him to the exhibition tournament in Saudi Arabia.
“I love playing tennis. Most of the time I don’t think about the money, but you have to be realistic. Saudi Arabia had the biggest prize money in history, which was a good motivation, at least for me.”
