The Black Knight Football Group fund, which owns, among others, Bournemouth, from England, will be close to reaching an agreement with Moreirense to guarantee the purchase of part of the shares in Sociedade Anónima Desportiva led by Vítor Magalhães.
According to information revealed by the British website Inews, the agreement between the Moreira de Cónegos club and the Black Knight Football Group “is close”, although “it is not sealed”. According to the same website, the fund led by businessman Bill Foley and Moreirense are still discussing the values involved in the deal. It is expected that the conversations will be completed by the end of the year.
The Black Knight Football Group made contact with Moreirense after negotiations with Casa Pia and Estoril failed. Bournemouth’s owners want Moreira de Cónegos’ club to be a gateway for young players from the South American and African markets, who will later be able to make the leap to the Premier League club. At the same time, the Black Knight Football Group intends to boost Moreirense’s growth in the League.
In recent years, that fund has invested in purchasing several clubs. In December 2022, it acquired Bournemouth and in January 2023 it became the owner of 30% of Lorient, from France. He later bought Auckland FC, a New Zealand team that competes in the Australian Professional Leagues, in addition to acquiring a minority stake in Hibernian, a Scottish Premiership team.
