Blue Mafia Convoy’s Safe Return to BH: How PRF Escort Rescued Them After La Mancha Ambush

Members of the Blue Mafia returned to Belo Horizonte this Sunday afternoon (27), after an attack suffered by Mancha Alviverde, during the early hours of the morning, in Mairiporã (SP). The Federal Highway Police (PRF) was responsible for escorting the organized Cruzeiro fans on the route from Mairiporã to the border between São Paulo and Minas Gerais. Afterwards, the Mobile Tactical Military Police of Minas Gerais will take over the monitoring of Cruzeiro residents from the south of the state to the capital of Minas Gerais.

Two buses transport fans. Of the 17 injured people who were taken to Anjo Gabriel Municipal Hospital, 14 were discharged and released after treatment.

The other three, who are in a more distressed situation, were taken to a hospital in Franco da Rocha, a city in Greater São Paulo, 16 km from Mairiporã. They will later be heard by the competent authorities.

One man died after the attack. José Victor Miranda, was 30 years old and worked as a self-employed motorcycle courier. He was part of the Mafia Azul de Sete Lagoas and leaves a son. The body is at the Legal Medical Institute (IML) in São Paulo (SP).

Blue Mafia x Mancha Alviverde

At around 5am, the bus transporting Cruzeiro residents from Curitiba to Belo Horizonte was intercepted, attacked and set on fire by members of Mancha Alviverde. Members of the Blue Mafia watched the game between Cruzeiro and Athletico-PR, for the Brasileirão, at the Ligga Arena, on Saturday (27).

In contact with Itatiaiathe Blue Mafia confirmed that this Sunday’s attack (27) was in retaliation for the confrontation that the organized groups carried out in 2022, in Carmópolis de Minas. The fans have had a rivalry since the 1990s, with countless episodes of conflicts inside and outside the stadiums.

Located about 40km from the state capital, Mairiporã is part of the Metropolitan Region of São Paulo. Its estimated population is 93,613 people.

What the Civil Police say

The Civil Police stated, in a statement, that they are investigating what happened. According to the institution, the incident report is under the responsibility of the Mairiporã Police Station.

“The Civil Police are investigating a fan fight that resulted in one person being killed and around 12 others injured in the early hours of this Sunday (27), on Rodovia Fernão Dias, in Mairiporã, metropolitan region of São Paulo. According to preliminary information, Cruzeiro fans were ambushed by organized Palmeiras fans.
