Bo Nix throws three touchdown passes and the Broncos beat the Panthers

Rookie quarterback Bo Nix threw three touchdown passes and added another on the ground to lead the Denver Broncos to a 28-14 victory over the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.

In his best career NFL game, Nix had 284 yards through the air. He threw a three-yard touchdown pass to Nate Adkins and a 19-yarder to Adam Trautman in the second quarter to give the Broncos (5-3) a 21-7 halftime lead.

The Panthers (1-7), who have 22 players on the injured list and who lost two more players Sunday, suffered a fifth straight loss.

Bryce Young completed 24 of his 37 passes for 224 yards. He threw two touchdown passes and two interceptions for the Panthers.

The Carolina team tried to fake a field goal in the third quarter, but kicker Johnny Hekker did not reach safety Sam Franklin Jr.

Four plays later, Nix threw a nine-yard touchdown pass to Jaleel McLaughlin to put the final nail in the coffin.
